Designing Experiences: Master of Ceremonies & Host
Speaking to people has always been a passion of mine. The ability to elicit emotion, motivate, and call to action through spoken word make it both beautiful and powerful. At its core, it's the feeling you get when someone reaches you with their voice.
"At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel."
- Maya Angelou
Due to a religious upbringing, public speaking was a skill taught at a young age. Over the years I exercised this skill and found passion and excitement in it as I tested forms in search of those that resonated with me; styles including debates, poetry, advocacy speeches, storytelling, and performances. Eventually I found my niche, which centered on combining motivational spoken word and music with a focus on encouraging people.
I started narrating instrumentals and ultimately transitioned into live roles, which include the following:
Resident MC at Daybreaker Seattle (a sober morning dance party)
Community Outreach Coordinator and MC/organizer of team competitions at Camp Rahh (a local summer camp for adults)
MC KickS at A HandZ & KickS Dance Party, which is a dance party service that I created with a good friend of mine who was entering the experience/event space as a DJ. Our venues have included The SIX (health & wellness fitness studio), SPiN (ping-pong club), and BoxHouse (sports bar/club)
Co-Founder at Haven, a brand new social experience that reimagines the traditional nightlife scene without the need for alcohol, inhibitors, or substances, with a focus on people, music, and art
The photos below capture the experiences we've created at some of these events.
